Sujet en faïence polychrome de Quimper, 20 cm de hauteur. Signature d'Adrien Ravallec. Il représente un vannier fabriquant un panier et vêtu du costume bigouden.

Subject in polychromatic earthenware of Quimper, 20 cms in height. Adrien Ravallec's signature. It represents a basket maker making a basket and dressed in the bigouden costume.

Signature au manganèse et lettre "G" gravée dans la masse pour bien indentifier la matière : le grès.

Nous présentons ici deux créations d'Henriette Porson (1874-1963) : à gauche la pièce en faïence et à droite sa version en grès. Ce buste appelé "buste de vieille bigoudene" est parfois nommé "la méchante" dans le milieu des collectionneurs. C'est vrai qu'avec son nez crochu il ne lui manque plus qu'un chapeau pointu de sorcière, reste à attendre les éclairs d'un soir d'orage et la frayeur est assurée !
Mais nous nous égarons ! Revenons à la céramique ...
Il existe quelques variantes notamment une très rare au plastron à rehauts d'or.

 Hauteur : 32 cm, largeur : 41 cm.

La coiffe bigoudene est très connue de tous pour être haute de plus de 30 cm. Mais au début du XX ème siècle elle n'était pas si haute.

We present here two creations of Henriette Porson (1874-1963) : to the left the subject in earthenware and to the right its version in stoneware. This bust called "old woman's bust bigoudene" is sometimes called "the miserable" in the middle of the collectors. It is true that with his hooked nose he does not miss more than witch's sharp hat, remains to wait for the evening flashes of lighting of thunderstorm and the dismay is assured !
But we get lost ! Let us return to the ceramic...
There are some variants in particular a very rare in the plastron with golden lights.

The bigoudene headgear is very known of all to be high of more than 30 cms. But at the beginning of XX ème century it was not so high.

Cette grande pièce en faïence de 37 cm de hauteur représente deux enfants en costume bigouden : chapeau rond et plastron brodé pour le garçon, petite coiffe de la région de Pont-l'Abbé pour la fille. On notera le travail d'irrisation des teintes qui permet à la lumière d'offrir autant de rendu que possible. Les amateurs reconnaîtront le pas de danse de la gavotte d'honneur. Il existe de nombreuses variantes de colorisation pour cette figure.  C'est une création d'Isabelle Delecourt (née en 1915), surnommée Bel Delecourt. Tout au long de ce blog, nous aurons de multiples occasions pour découvrir ses oeuvres.

This big pottery in earthenware 37 cms in height represents two children in bigouden costume: round hat and plastron embroidered for the boy, little headgear of the region of Pont-l'Abbé for the girl. We shall note the work of irrisation of the tints which allows to offer so much depiction as possible. The amateurs will recognize the dance step of the gavotte of honor. There are numerous variants of colorization for this figure. It is a creation of Isabelle Delecourt (been born in 1915), nicknamed Bel Delecourt. Throughout this blog, we shall have multiple opportunities to discover her works.
