Un aspect métallique pour le fond de ce plat rectangulaire aux angles coupés dont l'inventeur est Georges Renaud (1904-1994). Au répertoire Odetta, il s'agit du décor 1168 et de la forme 417, comme l'atteste le marquage au verso.

A metallic aspect for the bottom of this rectangular dish in the cut angles the inventor of which is Georges Renaud (1904-1994). In the directory Odetta, it is about the decoration 1168 and about the shape 417, as gives evidence of it the marking on the back.

Nous nous posons beaucoup de questions sur l'origine de cette pièce. Si elle est bien connue en faïence blanche, cette version polychrome est particulièrement rare. En outre la version en faïence blanche a le fond creux, ce qui n'est pas le cas du spécimen présenté.  Enfin si nous savons bien que l'auteur du plâtre est Emile-Just  Bachelet, sa signature n'apparaît pas sur cette pièce. Seule la marque de la manufacture est produite au verso. Alors s'agit-il d'une variante d'essai dont la production a été finalement abandonnée, s'agit-il d'un prototype ou de l'initiative individuelle d'une peinteuse ? Le fait pour cette piéta d'avoir été peinte justifie t-il l'absence de signature de l'artiste ? Pourrait-il s'agir d'une commande spéciale, peut-être à destination de maison(s) religieuse(s), auquel cas d'autres exemplaires pourraient alors surgir ?

Pour la petite histoire, cette pièce est revenue en France l'année dernière après avoir été longtemps la propriété d'un collectionneur des U.S.A. Pour nous faire pardonner, nous présenterons bientôt quelques pièces à l'effigie de présidents américains.

We ask many questions on the origin of this pottery. If it is well known in white earthenware, this polychromatic version is particularly rare. Besides the version in white earthenware has the hollow bottom, what is not the case of the presented specimen. Finally if we know well that the author of the plaster is Emile-Just Bachelet, his signature does not appear on this pottery. Only the mark of the factory is produced on the back. Then it is about a trial variant the production of which was finally abandoned, is it about a prototype or about an individual initiative of a "peinteuse" ? The fact for this piéta to have been painted does justifyl the absence of signature of the artist ? Could it involve a special order, maybe to religious house (s), to which case the other copies could then appear?

Anecdotally, this pottery returned in France last year having been for a long time the property of a collector of the U.S.A. To make us forgive, we shall soon present some potteries to the effigy of American presidents.

Cette statuette est imposante par sa hauteur : 35 cm.. Elle représente une bigoudène portant un enfant.  Il s'agit d'un des tous premiers tirages (ou du pemier tirage). La signature ne porte pas de numéro de peinteur(se). On trouve gravé en creux dans le socle arrière la référence à l'année 1924. Cette faïence polychrome existe aussi en faïence blanche.

This statuette is impressive by its height : 35 cms.. It represents a bigoudène carrying a child. It is about one of any first editions.The signature does not present number of painting woman. We find engraved hollow in the back base the reference in the year 1924. This polychromatic earthenware also exists in white earthenware.
